Went down to the beach on Sunday with the kids and the dogs, and for the first five or six minutes I watched the dogs cavort and leap and sprint side-by-side and dash into the water and out again and generally have a great time, with a huge smile on my face and a beer in my hand. Then the following happened in the space of about 30 seconds: daughter’s eczema flared up from the brine and she started wailing to go home, a friend’s son stepped on a jellyfish, my wife remembered we had a guest moving into the Airbnb and we hadn’t yet cleaned, and the cavorting dogs spilled not only my beer, but two other guy’s beers too. The Germans probably have a better word for this, but allI could say was ‘ohforxxxssakeokayletsgohomethenjeeezus.’
