50 calls for journalism/writing pitches (May 8, 2023)
A few weeks ago when the weather was more restrained like a sleepy lamb, and less crazy hot and tempestuous like an enraged cat, I went for a hike with my wife and some friends across this Hong Kong isle. At the end of the hike, as we guzzled down litres of fresh cool water and bolus upon bolus of carb-heavy food like they were actually delicious, we realised my wife had lost her phone. And so, my own phone in hand, eyes fastened on the Track My Phone website, I hastened back up the hills and down the chasms and across the drying streams in search of the technology that can find itself. I watched as this blip on the tracking app manoeuvered over the map, worked out my intercept point, and sped off. There came a point at which I had to decide which side of a bridge these phone finders would travel. Three selections later I decided I was right, and lo from the jungle path there emerged two people clad in sweat-releasing fibers and I smiled and said in my most ingratiating tone "Thank you! The phone is my wife's - she'll be so pleased. Thanks so much. Thank you... thank..." They both looked at me with stunned expressions. One clasped onto her backpack a little tighter. I realised these were no phone finders - they were phone thieves. In unison they grunted their unanimous non-compliance. And just before I sloped back with my Track My Phone app between my legs, I realised there was still one course of action remaining: to activate the Track My Phone Remote Alarm Chime. I did so, and the lady's backpack hummed and pinged like a song composed by Dr Schadenfreude himself.
This week’s calls for pitches below.
Following on from yesterday - I have budget for other Features at @iMore.
They can be 'out there' as much as possible, it just has to be fun. From iOS to the Watch, iPod Hi-Fi and more, feel free to pitch me, even if you haven't written about #Apple before.
I want new voices.
